This is what we know so far about The Princess Diaries 3

The best news of the day back then was when part 3 of The Princess Diaries was announced. I say back then because, seriously: that news dates back to January 2019. So we have known this for over a year now. But, where is that movie then? Very annoying. And to think that part two is from 2004. I completely disagree with this time lapse. A little gas on that lollipop with that third part, people.

So is that whole third part still on the schedule? Well, I can happily tell you that it is indeed the case, yes. Anne Hathaway is back and Julie Andrews too. I really hope there’s a monster duet between those two. Julie Andrews is of course Miss Sound Of Music and Anne Hathaway can also sing a nice tune. Part 3: The Musical? I’m in. But well, that probably won’t happen. Unfortunately peanut butter.

But what is indeed in it, is for the most part a surprise. So much of a surprise that Julie Andrews was not only surprised last October with the news that there is really a part 3 coming (which was already announced in January, so keep up Julie), but also with the news that the script was already finished. Anne Hathaway was already a bit earlier informed, and she said that the script will be a kind of tribute to Garry Marshall, the director of the first two films who passed away in 2016. Hoping for a book adaptation? Tough luck, because the third one will look very different. In fact, they say that the third film will be ‘in a very different universe’. Uh, okay? Now I’m scared.

By the way, there was already a plan for the third film before Garry Marshall's death. Including a story; he wanted to set part three in Manhattan. Seems like a pretty cool idea to me, the Royal Family of Genovia heading to The Big Apple. Does that sound good to you too? Too bad, because that went to the grave with his passing. The new script is completely different. It seems to have become a bit of a hoax or something, that third part. So much mystery. BUT it’s going to happen and that’s the most important thing. One of the most important things is that Chris Pine has said he will be back for that third part. Hatseflats.

Rough estimate of when the filming will start? All the ingredients seem to be there: script, the cast… One little problem: Anne Hathaway gave birth at the end of last year. So, by the summer her maternity leave should be over, right? Great.
