Have you heard of ‘hard seltzer’ yet? No? Then it's high time, because it's being whispered that this drink is going to conquer the market. Hard seltzer is not a brand name, it stands for its own category of drinks. Low-alcohol drinks based on sparkling water, alcohol, and a (fruit) flavor, to be precise. In America, it is a real hit – and now it's Europe's turn.

Low in calories
In 2019, hard seltzer in America accounted for $1.2 billion in revenue, and the expectation is that this will nearly triple by 2021. Especially millennials enjoy drinking hard seltzer. In the Netherlands, you can now buy STËLZ, the hard seltzer made from sparkling water with unsweetened fruit flavor and 4.5% alcohol. STËLZ contains no sugars, no carbohydrates, and no gluten, but does have a natural flavor. It fits well into the current trend of living healthier and more balanced, according to the makers.
