This sport burns as many calories as running

Since we are in the ‘corona time’, we are all getting pretty creative. Whether it is beautiful initiatives à la #supportyourlocals, mass clapping for healthcare and playing Heel Holland Bakt at home (I guess there is a gigantic surplus of banana bread in the Netherlands at the moment), in the meantime we also have to keep fit. And now I'm really enjoying those online lessons, but I missed being outside and playing sports together. But yes, that's not in the cards just yet.
That creativity is also put to use in sports and so, since the corona era, I see something that has taken over my entire Instagram Stories list. Skeel racing. In other words: the coronahit of 2020 when it comes to staying fit. And it's fun, too. Because yes, I too have succumbed to this hype and become a gigantic rollerblading fanatic. I last put on my rollerblades when I was about 11 years old, so to no one's surprise, I no longer fit my old rollerblades and those wheels underneath didn't exactly spin smoothly at all after the dust layer was brushed off.
The downside is that rollerblades are quite pricey, but hey, they are good value for money. I have a deep-rooted hatred for running, so I hardly ever really do any cardio. Until now, that is. Because you burn almost as many calories in rollerblading as in running. Say whut? Never. More. Running. Alone. But. Skeel. That will be my motto from now on. Fifteen minutes of fanatical rollerblading will quickly burn 150 calories, which means 600 calories an hour. And that's another very fine workout.
So now I am fanatically rollerblading. By the way, I am not yet very fashionable in it, because no matter how smoothly I see it passing by on all the Stories,I still have to make do with full wraps. So kneepads on, hand guards and I was in doubt about elbow pads, but I left those for what they were... But hey, getting through the quarantine fit has become a lot more fun this way. And more cosy, because this can easily be done in pairs.
