This way you'll never make a bad purchase in the sale again

With the thought that a bad purchase costs us thousands of euros, the sale can sometimes completely take over and we have an overflowing wardrobe – but still nothing to wear, it's time for an anti-bad purchase checklist. Something needs to be done about those bad purchases and it needs to happen now. From items you bought in yet another impulse (because you just really felt like something new), to the mega good discount of 70% in exactly your size: whatever the cause of that bad purchase is, with the final summer sale lurking, we're going to do it completely differently. And like this:
The moment supreme
Nothing is as nice as treating yourself to something beautiful on a bummer of a day. But it's really not a good idea. Yes, right after your purchase you feel a lot better, but once home you feel really down. During a shopping day, it's important that you feel good about yourself, so you can easily walk past those screaming sale racks. So are you grumpy? Just plop down on the couch and watch Netflix. Tomorrow is a new day.
Stack danger
It's not just a sale, but stack discount – in other words, the final sale call at your favorite store and you will definitely come back with way too many items of which you don't need half and that you only bought because they were a bargain. Cheap is in this case definitely expensive, even if it’s just hanging on the rack in your size and has a 70% discount sticker in a bright color. You don't need it. Not needed. Not needed. Not needed.
Wednesday = shopping day
Did you know that the first Wednesday of the month is the best shopping day of the month? On this day, new clothing usually arrives, and the current sale racks are filled with new items giving you extra choice to find what you came for and preventing that ‘lack of better’ situation from leading you into a bad purchase temptation.
‘Really something for you’
Of course, the saleswoman thinks everything looks a-ma-zing on you. And sure, a little advice can't hurt, but try not to get too caught up in his or her enthusiasm. Especially don't fall for the ‘really something for you’ quotes: she doesn't know you, nada, nothing. And she just needs to get rid of her last sale items aka old collection.
Little moment of happiness
There are of course countless arguments to come up with why you suddenly should buy the item in question now that the sale has started (it's a trend, because it looked so amazing on your friend or because the color looks so beautiful with your eyes), but ultimately the most important question remains: will it really make me happy?
Good stuff
Step out of your comfort zone when it comes to your regular shopping stops. Why buy three Zara dresses and only one piece from a designer from the sale still find too expensive? Think twice, girl, this is investing in much longer-lasting fashion.
When in doubt…
Don't do it. No. Not. Noppes. No, really not. No, just don't.
Shopping list
Before you get dragged into the shopping street, it's smart to make a shopping list for yourself. What do you really need, what do you miss when you stand in front of your wardrobe and why do you wear certain items so little?
From trading comes crying
Never forget to ask in that little boutique if you can return your clothes during the sale. Before you know it, you leave the store during your exchange visit with a voucher that you then forget to use forever.
