Tinder and corona: match not so made in heaven

Yesss, almost weekend. Last week I was really looking forward to it, because: FRIDAY, now it feels quite different. Let's say: completely different. Because what do we actually have on Friday if we can't do anything in the evening? In other words, doing the same as the previous evenings. Just hanging out at home. But that ‘nice’ can be taken away from me in the meantime, because I often just get incredibly bored. I know, it can't be helped for now and I'm at peace with it, but to say that sitting at home is hugely inspiring... No.
And then I'm also alone in quarantine, huh. No guy to sit in isolation with, to chat with or to sit on the couch with. Deadly boring. Now you might think: then just swipe away? Tinder, Happn, install those apps. Yes, of course, that's great, but then what?
Yes, Tinder is having a hard time during these corona times. The app itself thinks so too, it also notices a significant drop in users. It turns out again that those ‘dating apps’ are used more as ‘one-night-stand’ apps and that is a bit tricky with that one and a half meters distance from each other. And since that quarantine lasts at least until April 6, you really have to keep the conversation going for a long time to want to meet afterwards.
And to take the risk and invite that one stranger home: I wouldn't dare. Apparently, it's entirely up to me, because in the US many are still going ahead with online hook-ups. ‘The only reason I'm on the apps is for flings, and that hasn't changed,’ says American Kelsey. ‘If they're willing to take the risk, then I am too.’ Kelsey is clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I think I'm going to experiment on Tinder and Happn these upcoming quarantine weeks. Let's see if that app is really only used superficially for a simple fling for an evening or if after April 6 the week is full of dates. Tinder expects that too, by the way, comparing it to ‘winter times’ when people will swipe a lot (but go on fewer actual dates). To be continued.
Oh yes, and you probably won't be surprised that porn sites like PornHub are really huge and booming businesses right now. All of Italy even got free PornHub Premium during the isolation times, so that might be waiting for us too. By the way, a whole category of corona porn has also been added. Seriously. With face masks and everything. That's probably something you wanted to know, the existence of this, huh? You're welcome.
I was talking to a man on Tinder and I told him I was traveling and he said “with this corona virus!?” Then unmatched me.
Dating is maybe the most fun thing I’ve ever done.
