Tomorrow your new addiction is on Netflix

Attention, please. A new series is coming online. TOMORROW. I just discovered it and was preparing myself for it to take another month, but suddenly the date May 20 appeared. And that is tomorrow. Hallelujah, how relaxing. This new addition is called Blood & Water and the title sounds grim, but the series is anything but that. The series is set in South Africa and I got a bit of Gossip Girl-like vibes with it. And yes: that is really good news.
This is the deal: student Puleng Khumalo is new at a private school in Cape Town (hello comparison with Élite — also very nice), where she quickly becomes friends with Fikile Bhele, who is an influencer. Puleng finds the whole influencer lifestyle quite interesting, and together they go to a lot of parties, meet shady people, meet attractive people, and it gets hot & steamy.
The trailer already looks quite glamorous and I really love private schools in series. There’s always something intriguing about it and you just know that a lot of shady things happen there. Because it’s not just parties and flirting with guys and avoiding the police when they interrupt those same parties, no, Puleng also has a certain mission at school: she is looking for her sister and thinks she has found her.
Her sister was actually kidnapped shortly after birth and has never been found, but Puleng is convinced that a well-known swimmer at this private school is actually her sister. So it gets a bit grim here and there, I think, and maybe also exciting. But exciting in a way like Serena who thinks she has killed a junkie with an overdose. Not that you’re afraid to sleep anymore, but you want to know how it really is.
So it comes online tomorrow and I am extremely happy with the extra long weekend we have ahead. Of course, because a long weekend is just nice, but also because I can watch this then. Because let’s be honest: a combination of Gossip Girl and Élite is exactly what we need, right? Oh yes, the series is spoken in English so you don’t have to deal with synchronization issues. A bit lazy maybe, but I still find it more enjoyable to watch a series in English (or Dutch). Hereby I present to you: the new addiction.
