Lotte van Scherpenzeel and the breakfast at The Manor

When I used to ride my bike to the editorial office every day, let's say in the pre-corona times, I always played a checklist in my head: laptop: check, charger: check, agenda, glasses case, keys, phone: check-check-double check. I forgot something once and those twenty minutes back and forth are really not something you do for fun. Recently, the checklist came up again (in my head, you know), because I was going to work for a day in the beautiful hotel The Manor on Linnaeusstraat. I had wanted to take a look inside for a long time, because a friend lived across the street and I was always impressed by the beautiful facade when I was at her place. Now I had a reason to go inside. I walked towards my office for the day with a delicious cappuccino. The high windows, the silence, and the different view gave my creative brain a good shot of ideas. I never thought about it beforehand, but I really needed to work in a different location for a bit. Coming home also suddenly felt very different than just sitting at home. I’m going to do this more often. The Manor, that’s where you need to be. If you’re there before ten o'clock, order the delicious extensive breakfast. There’s no better way to start your day.
