With this staycation, you feel like you're abroad

Last weekend we went on a safari in our own country. Now this sounds like a utopia, but believe me: it really felt like that! Waking up in the morning with a view of giraffes, zebras, and ostriches: secretly, I never want it to be any different. Safari Resort Beekse Bergen is open again and fully organized according to RIVM guidelines, without detracting from the experience. In your lodge, you have all the privacy and freedom, you can also order all the food from the restaurant, and the facilities like the swimming pool are accessible by reservation and in time slots. Otis bounced with enthusiasm all weekend, so sweet. Really a big recommendation to book this summer as a ’staycation‘, but then with the feeling as if you are really abroad.

Sometimes there are those items on your wishlist that you lose sight of for a while and then suddenly get back in your sights. For a long time, I was looking for a ring with a Zeeland knot. It has an antique look and I find it so chic. But well, a year went by that I didn't think about it, and then suddenly I got a life-threatening tip: the Insta account of @lindasopal, the queen of vintage jewelry. Among others, Romy Boomsma is a fan and for a few weeks now, so am I. She sells all the jewelry via Instagram and you have to be quick, because everything is sold out as soon as it goes online. And then I suddenly saw it: this beauty of a Zeeland knot. I responded immediately and luckily I was on time. Sometimes you have to forget items for a while and they come back on your path.

On Friday I was beyond excited: my self-designed face masks arrived. It's always a bit thrilling to see if everything went well with colors and prints, but this time everything was exactly as I had imagined. I am so curious what the reactions will be from all the customers: hopefully they will almost start to ‘look forward’ to wearing these face masks.

I think everyone has made a wishlist in their head of dining spots they want to visit again now that everything is open. Recently, I dreamed about the omelet with truffle cheese at brasserie Van Dam and I would kill for an Île flottante at Café George. Although I must say that arranging a babysitter, going out, and pumping for Elias also sounds like a lot of hassle... I hope the restaurants keep their take-away menus, because Jon and I would like to keep dining at restaurant level at home.
