Your cat wants to kill you

woman working with cat

As a crazy cat lady, I don't necessarily think this is very good news. In fact, I find it quite grim. Because as a crazy cat lady, I am of course convinced that my cat and I have an incredibly good bond. I assume that I am her best friend. And that's just how it is, because why else would she always follow me around, look at me all the time, and then sweetly ‘knead’ on my lap? Super cute, right?

Well... that's not entirely true. Because cats remain a bit of predators, no matter how sweet they can be. And apparently, the ‘predator’ aspect never completely goes away, and those things I find so sweet are not meant that way at all. Aiii. But good news: we can all recognize this. How do you know if your cat secretly wants to kill you? By paying attention to these 8 points.

Don't give up during the staring contests
Cats can stare at you so intensely. Even from a very short distance. Whatever you do: don't look away first. That's a sign of weakness and that you can't be trusted. An attack could follow. We don't want that.

That ‘kneading’...
I find it so sweet. And they look so content. Well, that might be a bit different: this is how cats check where your organs are located. GRIM. Another reason could also be that they think you are their mother and want to create a safe nest. Ehh, I choose option number two, okay?

Showing you their latest victim
They are of course always very proud of that. A butterfly, mouse, bird; whatever. Totally dead of course and especially totally disgusting. Consider this a warning. The show-offs want to show that they are very dangerous.

Do they have many victims?
Know that there is no special reason to catch that mouse: they are already getting enough food and (I hope) are not starving. No, the only reason they go hunting and kill innocent animals is for fun.

Staring at you from a distance
Mine does this very often when there are people around: sitting under a chair or couch and studying everything. This is indeed studying: they want to know how their environment behaves so they can defend themselves as well as possible. And to be able to attack as well as possible. Be prepared.

Is your cat fearful or aggressive towards you?
Then be glad it's not that big, because according to a study at the University of Edinburgh, there is a very good chance they would otherwise take you down. The only reason they don't is that they can't handle us in terms of size.

Be especially careful if you are pregnant
This is a sincere household warning: get rid of that litter box if you are pregnant. Or well, you shouldn't change it at all. You run the risk of contracting toxoplasmosis, and that's no fun. Not for you and your baby.

It's actually a small lion
Of all felines, our domestic cat has the most in common with the lion. This is because they both live in semi-social environments. And you wouldn't want to live with a lion, right? No, exactly. Hopefully, you don't have a cat with delusions of grandeur.

Well, it's not that bad, right? As long as our cats stay nice and small, we are safe. Even though their motives may not always be that cute, we are still in charge for now. As it should be.

One of the researchers from the University of Edinburgh said the following about it: “They’re cute and furry and cuddly, but we need to remember when we have cats as pets, we are inviting little predators into our house. Cats can be fantastic, sweet companions — until they turn on you.” What I already said: grim.
