10x the best places for a Sunday brunch in Amsterdam

Sunday brunch tips

Brunching: I find it a strange phenomenon. Because apparently the ideal brunch starts around eleven o'clock, and that's just the time I often have breakfast myself. Yes, not good, I know: I'm the type that either forgets to have breakfast or does it late. But you could also say that I actually brunch daily. A true trendsetter. Only brunch is your breakfast and lunch in one, and I never skip lunch. Very confusing all of it. For convenience, let's just say that there are early and late brunchers. For both groups, I have made a list of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. And what better day to go for an extensive brunch than on Sunday? I think the Sunday brunch should become more of a concept. Enjoy!

1. Gartine
At this small cute restaurant, they use fresh products from their own garden. I always choose the French toast made from sugar bread: the least healthy option but very, very tasty.

2. Oeuf Amsterdam
On your rough Sunday, you can come here for the best croque madame in the city. And of course, a mimosa must not be missing, because a brunch without alcohol is not a brunch, right?

3. Jansz.
In the middle of the Negen Straatjes in Amsterdam, you can go to Jansz. for the best lobster sandwich. With nice weather, you can sit comfortably in the courtyard: right in the city, but still away from the hustle and bustle. Although it's also nice inside when it rains (which is quite often the case with us).

4. The Duchess
For a festive brunch, you must go to the Tea Room in The Duchess. The best and most beautiful high tea I have ever had. Not the cheapest, but my god, you get so much food here with all kinds of tea. Truly an experience.

5. Little Collins
The perfect place with experimental dishes for when you're a bit tired of avocado toast and want to try something new.

6. ARKET Café
This may not be the coziest place, but they have the tastiest freshly baked cinnamon rolls and good coffee. Great if you want to organize a brunch at home. And this is a bit of my secret spot, but here you go: I'm sharing it with you.

7. Morgan & Mees
The building alone is beautiful. Ideal for a brunch with oysters and bellinis. Enjoy yourself here on Sunday.

8. Benji’s Amsterdam
For tropical vibes, you go to Benji’s. You really feel like you're in Bali because of the green atmosphere, and the menu reminds me of that too: delicious acai bowls and brioches. They also have plenty of vegetarian options here, by the way.

9. BUFFET van Odette
I've been coming here for a long time specifically for the omelet with truffle cheese: amazing. They also have the best focaccia that they bake themselves. This spot opens at 12:30 PM, so for the early brunchers: you can come here for lunch.

10. Gebroeders Niemeijer
This is my favorite French bakery where there are often queues at the door. Everyone comes here for the infamous croissants that are sometimes completely sold out. To avoid disappointment, I give my golden tip here: the St-Joseph croissant (no idea if this is a croissant but it looks like one) is even tastier and is often still available for the late brunchers among us. By the way, you can also sit very cozy inside here.
