Everything you want to know about the CHANEL show

Chanel fashion show

Fashion week is over, the model kids can kick back, the agents can go offline, the stylists can take a breather and look back on a beautiful, almost old-fashioned month. There was an audience again, there was traveling again, and at CHANEL, Virginie Viard relived the glorious 90s. Here’s what you need to know to be in the loop.

1. Change of scenery
Where CHANEL always ‘resides’ in the Grand Palais, the show was now in a pop-up location at Les Invalides. The Grand Palais is being renovated, so there was no other option.

2. BBBB
The B for Bikini, for Belly, and especially for Bare. After almost two years of leisure-wear and tracksuits, Viard apparently thinks we need to hit the gym. If we start now, we’ll be just in time for summer to prance around in her low-cut outfits.

3. Photographers in the spotlight
In the past, photographers not only stood at the head of the runway (as they do now) but also along the long side of the platform, because photos were of vital importance. Now those front rows are occupied by the fashion press, but Viard wanted it to be like before. So Freedom by George Michael played, and the photographers got their old honorary place back so that Viard could hear her favorite sound, that of clicking cameras, again.

4. Good oldies
Not only were the photographers honored, but also the core of CHANEL. There were bags in the shape of No5 bottles, there was a lot of reinterpreted bouclé, and of course, the, I can’t get enough of it, marinière but with the stripes just a bit closer together.

5. Dutch touch
Runway queen Felice Nova walked everything that was important, including this. Follow that woman. The new Doutzen!
