5 countries that are just made for that workation

Since corona, it's a myth that you can't work from another location, and that's why I'm packing my things in one month and I'm leaving. My beloved is happily coming along. We kick off the remote trip with a week of work, then two weeks off, then four weeks of work, and another week off to wrap it up. But what are countries made for this?

First things first: make sure you have a nice house or apartment if you plan to work from there. Opening your laptop on a hotel bed is just less enjoyable. Prefer to leave the house in the morning for work? There are plenty of locations where co-working spaces abound and you can easily rent a desk. Where? Here they come.

1. But of course: Bali
The island in Indonesia seems made for remote work (just ask our Wieke). The houses are affordable, the cost of living is manageable, and you have a bar on almost every street corner where you can work comfortably. It's no wonder that all traveling workers settle here sooner or later. There are even some who never leave, that says something.

2. Singapore
In the mood for globetrotting? A pit stop in Singapore on the way to Bali is an excellent idea. The city scores high on the list when it comes to remote work. The wifi is the best in the world (really researched) and there are plenty of co-working spots where you can join in. Extra fun: you'll meet a lot of like-minded people here.

3. A European city
Barcelona, Lisbon, or maybe Rome? The larger cities within the EU are becoming increasingly familiar with digital nomads and what they need. Such a European city is also very well combined with a vacation. First a few weeks of work, then off for your vacation, and wrap it up in a city of your choice. Also fun: start in Barcelona, take a road trip through Spain and Portugal, and finish in Lisbon.

4. Greece
The Greek government is currently working to make the country more attractive for digital nomads. Entering the country is easier, staying longer goes smoothly, and more and more locations are suitable for a longer stay. Athens is of course lovely, but also consider a location where others don't go as quickly. For example, we start in the south of Rhodes, where you have lovely houses with good wifi and experience a bit more of the local life. After that, it's perfect to go island hopping on your vacation.

5. The Canary Islands
In the mood for sun? Athens is the warmest in winter, but on the Canary Islands, you're in the sun all year round. It's no surprise that the islands are popular to go to in winter and work. It takes little to no effort to rent a nice house, the wifi is good, and after a few hours of work, there's always a terrace or beach nearby. I only see delightful possibilities.
