8 signs that show you are starting to become an adult

When I was recently having dinner with friends, we came to the conclusion that we are getting older. There was a moment of silence. Not the necessarily shit-we-are-getting-old silence, but more like: hey, does anyone have a damn rebellious story because it’s already been an hour about babies, cryptocurrencies, and mortgage deductions.
Getting older vs. becoming an adult, there is a big difference. Anyone can get older. Adulthood is a second matter. Some ‘older people’ are surprisingly childish, while some ‘younger people’ are quite mature. The question is mainly: have you used your years of life experience to develop maturity? 8 signs that show you are starting to become more mature.
You have learned to say ‘no’ in a respectful way
Quite difficult, when you don’t want to disappoint anyone or come across as rude. In fact: you want to be liked. It’s an art to refuse something without feeling guilty. Have you gotten better at it? Ha. Maturity point in the pocket.
You make your ego less strong
You no longer believe everything you think and live more in the here and now. As a result, you let yourself be less swept away in negative thought spirals. You are more than just your thoughts.
You have learned to share
Immature people are always afraid of missing out. They are therefore always busy taking. Have you realized that you are good, just as you are? Then you need less. And you are more inclined to share because it feels good to help others.
You can empathize with others
Listening to people and trying to see things from their perspective. Wasn’t it different a few years ago? Another point.
You accept feedback instead of jumping on it immediately
Can you set your emotion aside and focus on the information you receive without taking it personally? Part of the information will be correct and part will not, but let your brain decide that and not your ego.
You can offer sincere apologies
Admitting your own mistakes is a sign of being mature. Here are five tips to effectively apologize.
You show courage
Being an adult means you no longer lean back and wait for something to happen to you. Instead, you step out of your comfort zone and make things happen. You are constantly looking for how to do things and how to do them better.
You dare to ask for help
You know your own strengths. You don’t have to ask everyone’s opinion all the time, but you shouldn’t be ashamed if you need help. You know that now. And it makes you a better person.
