Always late? It's a sign of being ‘successful’

Do you never arrive anywhere on time? Do you text your friends ‘I'm on my way!’ while you're still coming out of the shower with wet hair? That's a good sign.

Because people who are always late are generally more successful. That has been proven.

Being the boss
The reason? People who are often late generally feel less stressed. They are confident and strong in life. They don't worry much about the opinions of others. And because they are like that by nature, they are also like that in the workplace. They dare to stand up for themselves, they make their voices heard and those are exactly extroverted traits that leaders often have.

Look, you might have some trouble with that one friend you know will definitely not be on time or that sister you always have to wait for. They might not do it on purpose, and from now on you can also see the positive sides of it. They are certainly not lazy; it could even be that they have a lot on their minds. By multitasking, they even lose all sense of time: they are just busy and smart. Because it turns out, according to psychologists, that successful people often engage in multitasking.

A funny example. In the 1950s, researchers divided people into two groups: type A and type B. The first was competitive and impatient, the second relaxed and creative. They had to complete a task and then say how long they thought they had been working, in order to measure their perception of time. The ’stressed group‘ thought they had been busy for 58 seconds, while the ’relaxed group‘ thought they had taken 77 seconds. But they had actually been working for the same amount of time. This shows that people really experience time differently, and that when you feel good and are not rushed, you don't perceive time the same way. Time flies then – in your wonderful calm zen-world – swoosh past.

Also annoying
Research has also shown that people who are late are often positive, creative, and real out-of-the-box thinkers. They are actually optimistic because they don't see obstacles in their way. They don't worry much about the small things in life. In other words: there are only advantages to being late.

And you know what is really annoying? People who are too early. That you agree to meet at half past seven and they ring your doorbell at ten past seven, while you are not ready at all. You shouldn't want that either. So if you have to choose: definitely come fashionably late. Too late to the party? That doesn't exist anymore.
