Celebs who started in reality TV

Reality stars often don't have the best reputation. The Kardashians have turned into true businesswomen, but that's not the case for everyone. The Jersey (and Geordie) Shore people are mainly known for their behavior on the show, and in the Netherlands, no star from Oh Oh Cherso has really managed to evolve beyond that, except maybe Bibi.

But some stars have succeeded. In fact, you probably forgot that their roots are really in reality TV. Check the ones below: you didn't expect all of them, did you?

1. Lucy Hale — American Juniors
This whole program didn't ring a bell for me, but it's a spin-off of American Idol, another reality show. Lucy auditioned in 2003 when she was only 13 years old. She didn't win, but I guess she doesn't mind that much. Her singing career never really took off, but she has little to complain about her acting career.

2. Heather Morris — So You Think You Can Dance
In my opinion, the best couple from Glee: Santana and Brittany. But actress Heather Morris initially became known on TV not for her acting skills, but for her dancing talent. That also explains why she played a cheerleader in Glee. And she did quite well as a dancer: she performed on stage with Beyoncé.

3. Cardi B. — Love & HipHop
I absolutely had no idea that this artist was first seen on reality TV. I think that's also because the show Love & HipHop isn't really known here. Cardi B participated in the New York version in 2015. That was the sixth season, and maybe you've seen this sentence go viral on TikTok, but she was the one who shouted: ‘What was the REASOOON?’ It's fun that she went viral with that, six years later.

4. Winnie Harlow — America’s Next Top Model
You'd think: those who don't win a competition always go the furthest. It's often the same in the Netherlands, because you hear so little from most The Voice winners. Winnie Harlow participated in the modeling competition in 2014, which was the 21st season (it's crazy how long that has gone on, right?). Her real name isn't Winnie by the way: she got that inspiration from Winnie the Pooh and it's her stage name. Of course, she stood out because of her vitiligo, for which she is still a spokesperson. And I don't think she lost any sleep over not winning that competition.

5. Jennifer Hudson — American Idol
I happened to know this one. She has become a household name and even has an Oscar to her name, but in 2004 she was still unknown and participated in the third season of American Idol. And just like Winnie Harlow, she didn't win this edition. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? With a voice like that? In fact, she came in seventh. Well, say what? By the way, that season was won by Fantasia Barrino. Uh… Who?
