25 x why it is a very good idea to decorate your Christmas tree this weekend

I have the feeling that I want to decorate the Christmas tree a few days (read: weeks) earlier every year. This year it is clearly the fault of the lockdown, the many days at home, and the need for ‘the most wonderful time’ after a tiring corona year. And I can imagine that I am far from the only one with a weakness for Christmas. Guess what? That's totally okay, even in mid-November. In fact: here are twenty-five compelling reasons why it's a very good idea to decorate your Christmas tree this weekend:

  1. Santa Claus is descended from Sinterklaas and Sinterklaas has been in the country for over a week now. So it's really time for SinterChristmas.
  2. Decorating your Christmas tree bizarrely early makes you happier (just read here how that exactly works).
  3. Because we are suddenly back in a lockdown, you are more at home and can therefore enjoy your tree to the fullest.
  4. Because it-queen Chiara Ferragni has had hers up for a long time. And why can The Ferragnez do it and you can't?
  5. Because your green friend won't let you feel home alone anymore.
  6. Because finally Christmas movies can be watched.
  7. Because you have all the time to change the look of your tree three times.
  8.  You make boring November the start of a festive month.
  9. Because Sky Radio The Christmas Station can finally be turned on.
  10. And because you can do all your Christmas shopping before Black Friday. Read: there is plenty of room for gifts under your decorated tree.
  11.  You can carefully untangle those *^%#$ lights without any stress or sense of time pressure.
  12. Because all the Christmas ornaments are still in stock and your choice will be huge. Who knows how the stock will be in a few weeks...
  13.  Because it's called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason. You'd be crazy not to want to bring that forward by a few weeks, right?
  14. Because a very Instagrammable Christmas shoot can be organized at your place.
  15. Because your fake tree won't fall apart anyway.
  16. Because you don't care much about the mainstream people and their ‘the weekend the Christmas tree can be decorated’ rules. Which makes you a cool eccentric person.
  17. Because you think of the Christmas tree growers. You buy your Christmas tree early in the year and support the Christmas tree sector. Everyone has been hit hard this year and you understand better than anyone that money needs to flow.
  18. Because people who take extra time to decorate their homes are often seen by neighbors as friendly and social. That's so you!
  19. You won't have to deal with dark, dreary days for a while thanks to your very merry light point in the house.
  20. And your Christmas pajamas can now at least be worn shamelessly.
  21. No one notices that you actually have no green fingers and that apart from the tree, almost no greenery grows or blooms.
  22. To get into the Christmas spirit extra early so that it's more than okay to already eat yourself sick on Christmas cookies, duh.
  23. Because it suddenly makes staying at home during the lockdown a lot less unpleasant.
  24. Sorry not sorry, but it's only 36 days until Christmas, guys.
  25. Because it will soon be super busy in all the Christmas shops and you will be incredibly corona-proof ahead of the crowd because you have already stocked up on your Christmas tree stuff a few weeks earlier (read: tomorrow).
