EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS REBOOT

To be honest, I had kind of forgotten that this was coming, but no worries: it is still in the making. After a bit of a failed attempt to create a spin-off in the form of The Perfectionists, Pretty Little Liars is back. With a reboot. New round, new chances.

And quite a bit of news has just come out about this reboot. For example, that it will be called Original Sin and that the two lead roles have just been filled. They will be played by Chandler Kinney and Maia Refico. For me, still quite unknown names, but that doesn't really matter. Refico will play Noa, a sporty type like Emily who just got out of ‘juvie’ (that is, the juvenile prison) and wants to get her life back on track. Kinney will play Tabby, a soon-to-be director who is a big fan of horror movies.

These two characters don't have much in common with the cast as we know it from PLL, but that could be right. According to the creators, the reboot will be a lot darker and more thrilling than the original series, and that sounds like music to my ears.

What I am personally very happy about is that I. Marlene King is not coming back. She was the driving force behind the first series, but she was also the one who made sure we got thousands of A's and that no one ever died. She did treat us to a malicious twin that we had no idea about. Hopefully, this series will be a bit more believable.

Then of course the big question: will we see Emily, Hanna, Spencer, or Aria return in this series? No answer has been given yet, but to be honest, I see it bleak. Especially after the failure of The Perfectionists, I don't think the original cast is very motivated to make a comeback on the second attempt. The third attempt, by the way, if you count Ravenswood. Do we still remember that?

When we can expect the series is also still unclear, but I guess it will really be in about two years... So that will require some patience.
