Expedition Robinson: The Aftertalk of episode 23

Expedition Robinson: The Aftertalk of episode 23

After 23 episodes, I think I've figured it out: Sunday is currently my favorite Robinson day. I would prefer to move Robbert from Thursday to Sunday, and then I would be completely happy. But yeah, sorry: a team of Yuki, René, and Jan is just really hard to beat. So you understand that I was all set for it last night, until suddenly the plan called ‘send Jan home’ was launched. Damn it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, and of course, I'm sharing that with you. I'm still recovering.

1. ‘We're really full’ is a sentence I don't think I've ever heard in Expedition Robinson.

2. Excuse me? EXCUSE ME? Is this seriously the third (third!) participant who voluntarily quits? What. The. Faaakkk.

3. Sorry, but I really have a lot to say about that. Especially if you've participated before: you know you get homesick. That it's tough. Really, people would kill to participate, and this season they're just quitting in droves.

4. Look, that Défano couldn't continue because of his rib, that's understandable, but producers, please draft a watertight contract for next season stating that this kind of thing cannot happen anymore.

5. No, I still want to say something about it. What kind of mentality is this? Wietze is checking off a checklist of everything he wanted to achieve here and says that it all worked out, but that's not the goal of the program?!

6. The goal is to win and to hold on for as long as possible, not to go through your personal wishlist so you can book it when you're ready.

7. End of plea.

8. That Yuki sees Wietze's quitting as fine because it brings him closer to winning: that is a Robinson mentality. That's how you win.

9. NO. No, I take it all back: Jan absolutely must not be voted out. I don't want that, do you hear me?

10. Ehhh, hello? Did you have two presenters, were they both too busy to travel to Winner's Island?

11. Of course, it's not the most exciting challenge to judge, but this is just really lame.

12. Holy shitballs, that Sandra is really emerging as a true winner in the last episodes.

13. Or was I screaming at the TV because a piece fell off her? Maybe. Probably.

14. I can only hope that Yuki refrains from this ridiculous plan to kick Jan out. That's madness.

15. Jasmine just can't let go that people ‘pulled a dirty trick on her’. Get. Over. It. That's exactly what happens in Robinson.

16. Okay, this episode we're doing a black vote again. Do Nicolette and Kaj also have questions about this behind the scenes? Like: ‘What are we going to do this episode? Yes or no to the black vote? Yes or no to someone being voted out if someone else has already quit?’

17. Somewhere I also hope that Anouk wins the challenge because I think she could use some food. What a difference from the beginning, really a sunken face.

18. I can totally see Yuki having already won that challenge while Jasmine is still trying to throw that rope over.

19. HAHA. Told you so. And now let's hope this victory makes him realize that both he and Jan need to stay in. Think of your Ajax conversations, that must mean something, right? You can't just throw all that away.

20. You know you're really not doing well when the rules have to be simplified by you. A bit unfortunate that Nicolette didn't mention how long they had been standing there.

21. In any case, the season might be a bit too long for Kaj and Nicolette: just skip the challenge on Winner's Island entirely and shorten this challenge a bit.

22. I think the food there is really so scarce because the participants have never received so much extra food. Constant fruit, now cake: you can't convince me they're doing that because they're so nice. It's probably just really necessary because otherwise, they would starve.

23. ‘Okay, I'm going to sing Papiamento for you, okay?’ ‘Oh.’ Most dry reception of a birthday wish ever.

24. What also changes every week: during the previous episode, Sandra was allowed to sit at the Island Council, but Yuki this time was not. Did the producers already sense that Sylvana had to leave and wanted Sandra there for extra drama? That's really the only reason they would do this.

25. Moreover: Sandra was given the option to vote. Why. Does. This. Season. Make. NO. SENSE.

26. I'm really completely fed up if they vote Jan out. The ultimate Robinsonner. Chief pep talk.

26. Again screaming at the TV that Jan just has to use that immunity. This annoys me so much.

27. Ah noooo, and you can also see the surprise in his eyes. Maybe that starving has really affected their brains. Why keep Jasmine in and not Jan? I will never understand this. And I don't think I'll forgive it either.

28. Damn, cried again at Expedition Robinson. No matter how sportingly he handles it. I. Can't. Handle. This.

29. Will Jasmine stir up another controversy? Probably. Will she be the one to leave next Sunday? Of course.

30. This week really a very long list of Twitter messages. Well, it kept the emotions quite busy this episode, that's for sure.
