Expedition Robinson: The Aftertalk

Yessss, the second merging test is here. This season of Robinson has really been a kind of math problem for me so far. One of those where I used to get a failing grade no matter how hard I tried. Do you remember that you used to get fewer points if you gave the right answer but didn't write down your thought process? That was the case for me at least, and that's how this season feels too. I know the right answer (there will eventually be a winner this season), but the way there... I really don't get it. Was this episode a summary? In a way, yes, because we just saw the same test as last week. Let’s goooo.

1. How hungry do you have to be to slaughter a fish without hesitating for even a second? I would really struggle with that.

2. Anyway, I would starve in there within three days, so I'm not the best gauge.

3. Aahh, cutie Wietse. I have to say that JayJay also knows how to start a really tear-jerking conversation, but still. Sweet.

4. And just about that dinner, huh: how many people would be in the bathroom afterwards? Seventeen (!) days hardly eating anything and then suddenly shoving a cheeseburger down. Can't end well.

5. I've found Rob a bit annoying all season, but now I hope he makes it. Even if it's just as a FU to everyone who voted him out without hesitation and then kept hammering on not cutting into your own flesh.

6. HAHA. Wietse gets catapulted into the air. Everything for that win, of course.

7. Just something else: how relaxing is Yuki's voice to listen to? Can't he start a side business as an audiobook narrator? I'm completely zen here.

8. How awful is it that you're so intensely disgusting and you already know there's no way to take a shower? That seems really frustrating.

9. Maybe everything seems easier when you're comfortably watching from your couch, but why do so many people struggle with those screws? That seems like the easiest part to me.

10. But okay, that's probably how the three who are still fishing see it too: we'll never know how difficult that part is.

11. Holy shit, can someone sign Yuki up for the national puzzle championship?

12. And just realize that this is his second test of the day and he already won the first one. Why was he voted out in his previous camp again?

13. A bit of a shame, but understandable that we're now watching two episodes of the same test by the way.

14. Ah, I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for Rob now. The poor outsider. First stuck with John for an eternity, finally gets to the rest, and still isn't involved.

15. HAHA. Nice, Wietse. You slam those beers, and you might be the first ever to have a hangover on Expedition. Will the emo-drunk show up here at some point?

16. That the production might have had to get extra beer because Wietse just kept drinking. Did this really happen? No idea. But I hope so.

17. Okay, so we now have Bananda Island, No-Bandana Island, and Winner Island? And before that, we had Second Chance Island, Camp North, Camp South, New Camp North, New Camp South, and Loser Island. It's episode eighteen and we've had nine different camps. And I might be forgetting one.

18. Since when does it happen during the merging that you still battle against each other as teams?

19. Yuki and Jan on one island hopefully last as long as possible, because those are really the two winners so far. Or Jan just stays and continuously gets new company that he can then give a coaching session to. Guaranteed success.

20. And after eighteen episodes, the moment is finally there: they will find out that former participants are joining. It took a while, but then you have something.

21. Well... In the next episode, we have something. Expedition Robinson is survival for the participants this year, but for the viewers, it's also quite a test: my patience has never been tested this much.
