Oops: new ‘name’ of Facebook turns out to be already taken

You must have heard that mister Facebook himself, Mark Zuckerberg, is in need of a name change. Now I must honestly say that I don't quite understand this whole rebranding of Facebook: I really can't imagine that we are suddenly going to call it something else en masse. Facebook will just remain Facebook, regardless of what name Mr. Zuckerberg is going to give it. I actually thought it was a rumor that would blow over, but no, because it was indeed announced that Facebook had received a new name: Meta.
And with that, everything around Facebo- Meta is now the new Metaverse. It all sounds quite strange, but Zuckerberg is sure that he will take care of the next evolution of the internet. I do have confidence in that, because it is certain that he has changed the internet as we knew it with his site. You would expect someone like Zuckerberg to have thought it through well before he grandly announces a name change. There is actually a problem: the name is already taken.
HAHA. Yes, Meta is already taken, and TMZ found that out. Last August, the two owners of the company Meta PC registered the name. This means that anything related to computers, laptops, tablets, software, and everything around tech cannot use the name ‘Meta’. In other words, exactly in the alley of the site formally known as Facebook.
A bit awkward for Zuckerberg, but there is hope: they want to sell the name to him. And since they are not the most difficult, they have come up with a soft price. Twenty million. Whuuut. What a bizarre amount, but this is of course a trifle for someone like Zuckerberg. I can see him paying it too.
Until then, the company Meta PC enjoys massive growth in their followers, as people seem to be a bit confused by this whole situation. Shall we just go back to Facebook? Change is not always better.
