Funny people are smarter

Can you make a good joke? Are you the joker of the group? Then you are probably really smart, according to researchers.
Laughing, dude
Because humor is a clear sign of intelligence and that makes you obviously more successful in daily life. This is evident from a study among 185 students (115 women and 70 men) that examined the relationship between general intelligence, humor, and the main personality traits. Funny people are often smart people. This is because humor is something that requires you to think differently. You can't just think in the ‘now’, you need to be creative, quick-witted, and verbally strong. Also, people who are extroverted and therefore often more social are on average smarter.
Sarcasm
And while we're at it: sarcasm is also a good predictor of someone's IQ. It is precisely the people who always come up with a sharp remark who are the smart ones among us. They know exactly how to make the right comment, and it does require some IQ. Sarcasm is thinking outside the box and expressing that in fluent language. Only smart people can do that. Once, sarcasm was known as ‘the highest form of intelligence’ and that still holds true: a study from Harvard Business School shows that sarcasm is the highest form of intelligence. Your brain must working if you want to make a sarcastic joke: you need to think abstractly. Let that be a signal of a high IQ. This sarcastic touch in your humor can be seen as an extra challenge that makes your brain work harder. You take that extra step in your brain, showing that your brain is capable of that.
So: keep having fun. It definitely makes you a smarter person.
