Hair inspo: this is how you tackle your roots

The last two weeks, maybe a bit longer, I wasn't feeling quite myself. I didn't really know where that came from at first, until I had a day where literally nothing looked good on me and I found the culprit. The thorn in my side. My hair looked terrible and that always greatly affects how I feel. Fortunately, the solution was quite obvious, as I made an appointment with my favorite hairdresser. made in no time. I've been going to BRUSH Hair + Make up in Amsterdam for a long time now, and that's the longest relationship I've managed to maintain. The love is still mutual, so that's nice, and a break-up is still far from sight.
Here's the thing: before I went to them, I wasn't really a daredevil when it came to hairstyles. I just didn't dare to. But my confidence has grown immensely, and suddenly I'm walking around with face frames, balayages, and highlights all over the place. It's high time to ask my favorite hairdresser a few questions. Because even though I visit them often, I'm still dealing with the little situation of regrowth. Unfortunately, my own hair isn't as blonde as I want it to be and as it is dyed. What is the best way to deal with this? Going through the full wash process every time isn't very friendly for my bank account, but fortunately, it's not necessary either.
What is face framing?
Solution number one is definitely face framing, a pretty new trend that we will probably see a lot more of. I go through that full wash process every now and then, and my visits mainly consist of a face framing treatment. What exactly is it? Bleached strands that accentuate the shape of your face (yes, hence the name). It can be bright like Billie Eilish or a bit more subtle. A bit like the sun is constantly shining on it, but done through bleaching. And voilà: that regrowth is no longer visible, you know. An extra plus is that your hair doesn't get mega damaged this way, and most of your hair is left untouched. And you can make it as wild as you want: two white-blonde strands in front or more evenly distributed.
Babylights for the win
A bit of a mini variant of highlights and the solution if you prefer a subtle touch-up. Unlike face framing (where the contrast of colors creates that shaping), this provides more of an overall refresh of your grown-out highlights. Not as intense and drastic as completely new highlights.

What is the solution for your regrowth?
If I've learned anything from the BRUSH guys Bryan and Justin, it's that it varies so much from person to person. And that I've received really terrible advice from hairdressers in the past. HAHA. I thought I had nice highlights, only to find out they were thick zebra stripes, and that same hairdresser suggested just slapping a coupe soleil over it. The result was... Not pretty. Did I go home crying? Maybe.
So finding a hairdresser who understands you and actually gives sincere advice (instead of recommending the most expensive treatment, how annoying is that) has done me a lot of good. And who really understands what suits your face and thinks along with what you want. I wanted to go from dark to high blonde, and believe me: you don't want a hairdresser who does that for you. That result was again... Not pretty. Was there crying again? Maybe.
So here's one last shout out to Bryan and Justin: my hair hasn't been this happy in ages. Contouring with makeup, I'm still terrible at that, but you guys can contour my hair like no one else.
