House of Gucci is finally available to watch

We had to wait three years to see Lady Gaga in a movie again, and anything Gucci will suit our appetite. Add an inevitable lockdown to that, and you want to run to the cinema now to devour House of Gucci. That can happen starting today. To get in the mood, I'm serving up some delicious House of Gucci facts.
1. This location by Lake Como is for rent
One of the most beautiful locations of House of Gucci is Villa Balbiano, on the west side of Lake Como. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior with all sorts of historical pieces. You can rent it via Airbnb for a thousand euros per night, but there's plenty of space, so an idea for a girls' weekend?
2. Lady Gaga spoke with an Italian accent for eight months
She wanted to give depth to her character Patrizia Reggiani, the woman who ordered the murder of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, so she also wanted to have a perfect Italian accent. She practiced with an Italian friend (and of course, she is of Italian descent herself) and spoke with an Italian accent for eight months. Whenever she called her mother, her grandmother, her tax advisor; always. I hope for her sake that she can unlearn it because the reactions are not entirely positive.
3. Jared Leto had to spend six and a half hours in makeup
The quite uniquely looking Jared Leto had to be made a lot less attractive (and a lot thicker) for his role as Paolo Gucci, the son of Gucci man Aldo Gucci. He spent six and a half hours in makeup every shooting day and also needed an hour to get it all off again. ‘You get hemorrhoids from it, it takes so long,’ he tells Eva Jinek. This was probably his promotional interview number 431...
4. Lady Gaga and Salma Hayek in a mud bath
It's remarkable that Salma Hayek is involved in this film, as her husband is François-Henri Pinault, the boss of luxury group Kering, which includes Gucci. Because the Gucci family themselves were not so ‘fond’ of the film.
Anyway, in the film, Hayek plays a friend of Reggiani, and that's why the two are together in a mud bath. Well, I don't really know why, because that's what friends do? Anyway. But Salma hilariously talks about it. She tried to keep her ‘fat ass’ above the mud, but that made her big breasts shake a lot, she thought. It must have been quite manageable, but it was funny and entertaining.
5. Star-studded cast
Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino; they are all immersed in the life of the Gucci family.
Some are praising, others find the film fodder for the Razzies, but one thing is for sure: the horse bits and loafers will be in high demand in the coming weeks, as the clothing is so greed-inducing beautiful that Gucci is firmly back in the saddle.
