Huh? Meghan Markle lied on the Oprah couch

I am a bit confused about this, to be honest. While the interview with Oprah came across as so sincere and honest, it now seems that there are inconsistencies here and there. Because Meghan wouldn't want all that fuss about her wedding at all. No way, she would much rather have an intimate wedding, because it was all about Harry and her and the love. So that’s what the couple would have done; before the whole TV spectacle, they would have exchanged their vows in a garden. Everything after that was for the public and for the show.

It became immediately clear that something was off about that statement, as it is not possible to get married outdoors in England at all. A strange law, but it really exists: marriages are not performed in the open air. So you can shout ‘yes’ as much as you want, it won't be binding. But yes, this is about the British royals, so maybe an exception was made?

The answer is no. The Sun has obtained the marriage certificate and it clearly states the date: May 19, 2018. In other words, the date of the whole TV spectacle that Meghan didn't need at all.

Then I wonder: why would you lie about this? Because I can hardly imagine that Meghan was seriously impressed that she was already married before her big wedding. I mean, I assume you know that, right? It’s quite a big deal, such a marriage, so you would think you wouldn't forget it if you did it twice.

A little white lie for the greater good then? Maybe to garner some sympathy? Or perhaps to silence the critics who keep insisting that Meghan married for his title, money, and fame? It’s a bit tricky then if you end up being caught out like this.

In any case, we are certain that they are married. And we are also sure about the date. Meghan has not yet responded to how it stands with that date, but I will of course keep you updated. I am completely invested in this storyline — the great mystery of the royal wedding date.
