Instagram has its own Gossip Girl and celebrities are not happy

influencers on their phone

You know you love me… XOXO. What an iconic series it remains. If you forget the last episode then, because – spoiler – that Dan was ultimately Gossip Girl made absolutely no sense. But apart from that, it remains a delightful series to watch. The city of New York, the outfits, but especially the drama that Gossip Girl mainly caused (especially in the earlier seasons).

I think a lot of people who have seen the series have wondered what it would be like if their life really had a Gossip Girl. Whether it would be someone from their circle of friends or more of an outsider who reads all the gossip. That would be intensely entertaining, right?

Well, our prayers have been answered: Instagram has its own Gossip Girl, named DeuxMoi. This insider started her account about a year ago, at the beginning of the corona crisis. What do we know about her? Not much, it could also be a man. The only thing that is certain is that this mysterious DeuxMoi has worked in the fashion industry in New York and knows a lot of dirty gossip about celebrities. And she therefore — anonymously — posts it on her Stories. Even the ‘spotted’ category from Gossip Girl has been taken over, so you always know where the celebrities are hanging out.

As you can imagine, people were waiting for this. She now has nearly 800,000 followers. Through her website you can anonymously submit gossip, and she screenshots it on her Stories. In the beginning of her account, it also stated who it was about, nowadays she sometimes removes the names and they are ‘blind items’ (although you can often guess who it is about). She adds that she does not verify any gossip, so whether they are really true, she does not stand for. It is also legally convenient that she says that and removes the names. But that does not change the fact that a lot of gossip has come true.

For example, it was already read on her account in December that Meghan Markle is pregnant again, and also the huge scandal surrounding Armie Hammer she was the first to bring to the world. A-Rod cheating on J.Lo?Yep, that was also first read on DeuxMoi. And that tequila brand that Kendall Jenner launched this week? You guessed it: the followers of DeuxMoi already knew that about a month ago. And mark my words: in about a year, Hailey Bieber will launch her own skincare line called Rhode. Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles finally official? Old news for the DeuxMoi followers.

When such an account grows massively, it mainly means two things. First, that you receive a lot of gossip and second, that celebrities are absolutely not happy with you. That tequila brand (called 818) from Kendall being leaked, for example, did not go down well, and bestie Jen Atkin also posted on her Instagram that she did not leak to DeuxMoi. Hailey Bieber was not very amused after an unpleasant rumor about her and decided not to take it anymore: who was this DeuxMoi who aired everyone's dirty laundry?

From home, she played FBI for a while, and successfully: about two months ago, Mrs. Bieber posted on her Stories: “You guys, I finally found out who DeuxMoi is.” And then it went quiet. From Hailey's side, but also from DeuxMoi's side — nothing more is posted about the Biebers. Mission accomplished, I think?

But no celebrity is safe. Honestly, I find it quite delicious. The inside info, the weird things you read about celebrities, and especially later, when those things come out, it turns out they are all true. It just works addictively.

If you have some time, read this article from Vanity Fair about this DeuxMoi. And hey, go follow that account, then you'll always be the first to know about all the gossip. Here’s a preview of the gossip you can expect.
