Just a bit more about Marco Borsato

Those were quite the two weekends, I must say. Last Sunday I stayed up all night because I absolutely wanted to see Meghan and Harry on the couch with Oprah. The proverbial couch, that is, because they were comfortably sitting in the backyard in the sun. This Saturday it was time for our own Oprah, or Linda de Mol. Plus: it was at a much more relaxed time. Minus: it was also significantly less shocking. But still, Marco shared enough that we could discuss afterwards.
But he also made statements that we could fact-check. For example, Marco declared that a rumor from Heerenveen was categorically false. He claimed he had never been to Heerenveen in his entire life. Well, in this day and age, you can easily check that, and sure enough; in 2019, Marco was still hanging around in Thialf. Um, yes, Marco… That is indeed in Heerenveen. Maybe not the absolute best example you could use, because this doesn't do your credibility any favors.
Honestly, I found the interview a bit disappointing. And I can tell you: this is coming from a true Marco Borsato fan. His songs have pulled me through many heartbreaks. But to end the interview with such a song, where he overly pours his heart and soul into it felt a bit… insincere?
It is definitely a tearjerker, don't get me wrong. But I had the impression that Marco took on a bit of a victim role throughout the entire interview, while last time I checked, he is the one who was skating on thin ice. He presents himself as a loving, still-in-love-for-25-years, sincere man. And maybe Linda wasn't entirely the right person to conduct that interview. As they also said at RTL Boulevard: then sit down with Jeroen Pauw or Eva Jinek. But yes, maybe that would make the whole PR trick work a bit less? Such a simple Heerenveen lie certainly wouldn't have gotten through with those two.
After the interview with Linda and an interview with Privé, Marco is done: he doesn't want to talk about his infidelity anymore. No, he only does that singing now. In a — he hopes — new number-one hit. Hmmm.
