Just graduated, in love and... suddenly deceased

It's such a story that doesn't let you go. That when you're at the greengrocer, suddenly your stomach tightens. An event where you simply have to forget the why-question and not ask it, simply because there is no reason. Life is beautiful, but sometimes it turns pitch black.

Like Friday. Two students from the Amsterdam Sint Nicolaaslyceum, Joara Leghesa and Roman Sabajo had just heard that they had passed their havo exam, were sitting on the edge of the Amsterdam rooftop terrace where they often sat and suddenly it went wrong. What happened is still unclear. Maybe one got up to grab a drink and slipped away. Maybe the other tried to grab the one who slipped away. Or they kissed each other to celebrate life and seize the day and lost their balance in the process. It is of a rare cruelty.

The school set aside time yesterday to talk about this loss and indicated that they are there for the children, but also for the parents. The flags that should be waving with bags are now at half-mast.
