Dutch photographer Kim Kardashian

There she was, the slightly modest, understated Annemarieke van Drimmelen. At Jinek. Because she had ‘none other than’ (am I the only one who hates this expression? No, of course none other than, but also none more than, just Kim Kardashian) Kim Kardashian West (another thing that raises my eyebrows: why keep your ex's name after you’re divorced? It’s not like she needs that last name. Anyway.) photographed.
Now, Annemarieke van Drimmelen may not be quite the household name for most of us as Inez van Lamsweerde, but this incredibly charming photographer is already quite in the driver's seat towards the top. She photographed a beautiful special for Dutch Vogue where she shot Amber Valetta for the cover and created all the series in the magazine. For the Wall Street Journal's supplement, she also photographed Jessica Chastain and Naomi Campbell.
Kim Kardashian hesitated a bit when she saw that Annemarieke wasn't using a flash and feared for the image. After a good conversation woman to woman, Kim was convinced and that resulted in truly amazing images that show a different strong yet vulnerable Kim.
I have met Annemarieke once. My fashion editor Simone Dernee had seduced Annemarieke to create fashion series for us together with her regular stylist Dimphy den Otter. Annemarieke, a former model herself, knew exactly how to assemble the perfect team and understood what the client, the model, the stylist, and herself needed. I didn't have to change a comma and always danced with joy over the prints that were placed on my desk. I wish Annemarieke all her success and I am even a bit prouder afterwards that she created a few beautiful series for me.
