Made for life

I'm sitting on the countertop. Right in the corner between the sink and the cutlery drawer. Our kitchen isn't really that big, but in this position, I'm not in the way. He fills my glass of wine (Pouilly-Fumé, just like nineteen years ago) and bends forward in our carousel cupboard to take out the grill pan. While he breaks the sprigs of rosemary and lets the pepper mill dance above the steak for a moment, he touches the ridges of his new acquisition with his fingers. It's a BK, he tells me. Made in Holland and for 170 years leading and pioneering in cookware. His grandmother cooked with @BK_cookware and so did mine, he says. I, being somewhat less the kitchen princess of our kingdom, especially admire the elegant handle. He sees what I see and says that this ergonomic handle doesn't get hot quickly either.
That's rewarded with a toast in between. If there's one thing I hate, it's handles that burn your hands. He's not done yet. Due to a double-layer ribbed bottom construction, you have quick and even heat distribution. The ridges ensure the ultimate searing result. Ideal for that steak he's going to fry for us at high temperature.
And he hadn't even mentioned the special Evershine technology that keeps the shine intact and that the pan is free from PFAS. I jump off the countertop, roll out the tablecloth, and grab our beautiful silver, while I hear him say that the pan is for life. I wonder if the phrase ‘just like us’ sounds too cliché, give him a kiss, and walk to the front door where our guests have just pressed the doorbell.
