This will be the coldest winter in 100 years

If you think you've seen it all (I found this summer to be a really sad low point in terms of weather), the next meteorological misfortune comes: according to various scientists, this will be the coldest winter in 100 years. And there is quite a bit of evidence for that.

1.  There was already snow in Siberia in August
For many meteorologists, a measuring point is whether it snows in Siberia in October. If that is the case, you might as well start knitting scarves and making mittens. But there was already snow on August 5th.

2.  It is incredibly cold in Patagonia
They have winter during our summer and it was -23 degrees there. That could be an indicator of what awaits us.

3.  There is a new climate cycle
This started this year and it is said to contain very few hours of sunshine. How long this cycle lasts was not mentioned by the scientists, but I suspect it will last for a while.

4.  The alpine thistle says it too
A folk saying, but still. The length of the stem of the alpine thistle in summer is said to predict the snow height of the coming winter. And let’s just say that this year it has been very long.

5.  And Piet Paulusma says it too
I don’t know what you’re doing, but I’m going to order warm blankets from Bol.com.
