MAFS season 8: where are they now?

MAFS season 8

Oooh, finally I can talk to you about that chaotic eighth season. When it aired on TV in Australia, I was already way too impatient, so I started streaming it. Brilliant plan, I thought. But I hadn't taken into account that it also meant I couldn't discuss it with anyone. And that's the most fun part: discussing how bizarre the contestants are with others. And then it was also the season in which the biggest idiot of all time participated: Bryce. And that this biggest dodo even gets a woman so crazy to marry him. I don't get it at all.

But now it can be discussed, right? The discussion has started as far as I'm concerned, and that's why I'm going to tell you what happened after the recordings. So if you haven't realized it yet: here come the spoilers. And I can already give you one (one that I'm NOT happy about): Bryce gets his happy ending. Good grief. No one deserves that, right?

In this season, there was a lot of drama after the recordings (and that while there was already non-stop drama during the season itself), and I obviously want to go through all of that with you. Some contestants would present themselves very differently than they actually are, other relationships were formed, kissed, and then broken up. Let’s gooo.

Melissa & Bryce
Yes, let's start with this couple: they are still together. Sigh. Melissa has now transformed into the woman Bryce wanted her to be (blonde hair and even colored contact lenses) and as soon as she was ‘done’, he wanted to start a family. So said, so done: they are now expecting twins. Pffff. Oh yes, and they are also engaged. Yes, here's the thing: in MAFS you don't marry for real, but purely for the show. So they are now going to do it in real life as well.

Rebecca & Jake
Ehh, no. That seems pretty clear to me. Even though they all stayed in for quite a while and did their best... Sort of, then. This was never going to be a match. I did say there were spoilers coming, and I'm not going to ruin this for you yet, but believe me: check the reunion. If you ever thought Beck was a sincere person, you definitely don't want to miss this. What a sly one she is.

Samantha & Cameron
Juicy: Cameron and Coco did talk to the producers about possibly participating again as a new couple, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. No idea if something might have developed between them, but we'll never know. Anyway, that romance was short-lived. Cameron blamed COVID, but honestly: I think he's just a bit of a f*ckboy.

Booka & Brett
These two also didn't find love, and I found that so disappointing because I think they are both so hilarious. Booka later went on Reddit and did an AMA (Ask Me Anything), where she said that Brett was a very different person when the cameras weren't rolling. According to her, he was quite a sexist jerk. Whut? I really didn't see that coming. A deep-rooted friendship didn't come from it either, by the way. Too bad.

Coco & Sam
Short but powerful: no. Super impressive of Sam that he could behave like that and still not be the biggest jerk of the season. Strange guy, who gave the best one-liner this season: ‘You’ve got the personality of a doormat, and that’s an insult to doormats.’ HAHA. That he said that to Bryce really topped it off.

Jo & James
Hmm. No, this was obviously not going to work and I really found Jo a sweetheart, but they are both just a bit boring. That James thought he was something special, but I really had to hold myself back from skipping his scenes. I do hope Jo eventually meets a nice guy, because she absolutely didn't deserve this.

Alana & Jason
Ouch, I was still doubting here: will it eventually become something or not? Well, there was quite a lot of drama after the recordings. A case of a traffic light. Very painful when an Insta Story of Jason leaked in which he made quite homophobic remarks about Liam, who is bisexual. Alana also couldn't accept that and dumped him. Via a text message.

Belinda & Patrick
Well, I seriously had quite a bit of faith in these two. Both a bit quirky, and a couple that really grew towards each other during the recordings. But unfortunately: they managed to stick it out for a while, but they also recently broke up. Last month they announced their break-up and gave as a reason that their ‘perspectives on love and life goals ultimately do not match.’ Okay. Airy-fairy. By the way, it turned out that Patrick was not so nerdy and awkward off-camera, but kept multiple girls on the line. Whut? Patrick?

Georgia & Liam
Just a bit about that painful video of Jason: Georgia was there. Both probably drank a bit too much, but oh, how much fun they had. You could already conclude that Georgia and Liam were no more, but after that, they weren't really on speaking terms anymore. Rightly so. Good news for Liam: he is now completely happy in love with Samuel Levi, who participated in MAFS New Zealand. All's well that ends well for him, at least. Georgia is still single.

Kerry & Johnny
Yaaaaa, still a success story. I refuse to label Bryce and Melissa as such. These two now live together in Brisbane, are very happy, and have a little dog named Enzo. I already found them quite cute during the season, a bit boring maybe, but that was also allowed with all these chaotic participants.

Beth & Russel and Jaimie & Chris
This last-mentioned couple was really the shortest MAFS couple of all time, I must say. I didn't even recognize Jaimie anymore. Chris didn't trust her and thought she was only participating for the fame. That first couple was a huge mismatch, and we already knew that beforehand. Before the series even aired, by the way. Reason: Russel was quite active on a dating app and told women in nightlife who wanted to know that he was participating. And still unmarried. Handy.
