Cheers: Making Sangria Slushies

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: this is how you make the tastiest sangria slushies.

If I find something to be a delicious summer drink, it’s definitely sangria. A red, white, or rosé sangria made in the classic way or as lemonade; I actually don’t care how I drink sangria, because it’s guaranteed to be tasty anyway. And yes, that includes these sangria slushies.

INGREDIENTS
1 bottle of red wine
80 ml Licor 43 (or any other spirit you have lying around)
30 ml orange juice
1 tablespoon honey
Orange slices for garnish

Imagine that on a scorching hot summer day you’re parched and looking for something refreshing, and the only thing you have at home is a bottle of red wine. I can imagine that at 24 degrees you’re not really in the mood for a glass of full-bodied red wine. But what do you do with it? Make a slushie!

This is how you make the sangria slushies
1. Pour the red wine into an ice cube tray and place it in the freezer until the cubes are frozen.
2. Put the cubes in a blender along with the Licor 43, orange juice, and honey and blend until smooth.
3. Pour the slushie into a glass, garnish with an orange slice, and cheers!
