Still a bit about Lewis and Max

Still a bit about Lewis and Max

Because there was suddenly a gap this weekend (no Formula 1, where should one go) and there was also a lockdown on top of that, we decided to rewatch both The Race of Max and immediately catch up on the season overview.

During the victory dance and the ritual champagne spraying (my serious girlfriend always asks a critical question about this: the waste and pollution of the F1 circus sometimes becomes too much for her, and I understand that), Lewis stood there a bit sadly in a corner. While Max put his team boss Christian Horner under a waterfall of Moët, Lewis entertained himself a little with his own bottle. Especially the moment when he took a sip from his magnum himself I found painfully touching. Lewis looked like that boy on the playground who wasn't asked to play football and just kicks a ball against the wall by himself. I am a huge team Max supporter, but I also find Lewis an athlete of a rare level who also addresses important social issues.

Then we switched to the season overview where we saw all the highs and lows come by again. It was a big ‘oh yes’ and ‘do you remember’ on our couch. For example, I had completely forgotten that Lewis crashed into Max and that Max had to be taken away by ambulance. And also the rather inappropriate moment when Lewis did a little spraying contest on the podium with his champagne bottle, not knowing how Max was at that moment, whom he had knocked off the track himself. I believe I had some thoughts about that. In any case, the you-can’t-sit-with-us moment between Max, Christian Horner, and Lewis was completely made up in one go.

And oh, how we look forward to 2022.
