Netflix tip for when you also suffer from insomnia

Sleeping has always been a challenge for me. And it seems that the older I get, the harder it becomes. Really, I envy the people who hit their pillow and are already in a coma. Or worse: those who can sleep anywhere. Sitting, lying down, I even have a friend who could sleep standing up in the Amsterdam Bubbles. Admittedly, there was quite a bit of alcohol involved, but still.
To try to grab a few hours of sleep here and there, I often try melatonin (doesn't really work for me), or if it gets really bad, I take sleeping pills. But since those can be quite addictive, have quite a few side effects, and are generally not very good for your sleep in the long term, I need to think of something else. And so I was already familiar with the app Headspace, which has teamed up with Netflix.
They have already created a series called A Guide To Meditation, and now their Guide To Sleep is out as well. In other words: eight episodes of about twenty minutes, so that's great. I'm not really into meditation, but I found it quite interesting nonetheless. This one about sleep is definitely a recommendation. Whether it really works, I can't tell you yet, because I'm only going to put it to the test tonight.
The episodes are full of tips on how to sleep better, but myths and facts about sleep are also addressed. For example, do you really need eight hours of sleep per day? And what about your phone: is it really that bad to use it before going to sleep? I'm especially curious about the answer to that last question, because I fall asleep nine times out of ten with my phone in hand. Oops, yes: pretty addicted.
Fun fact: Headspace has signed a contract for three series in total. The third one is still to come, but it is not yet known what it will be about. And I downloaded the Headspace app again. Maybe I should give that meditation a chance after all.
