Erica Meiland didn't have a relationship with Sander
Color me confused, because I don't understand anything at all anymore. Just over a month ago, at the end of March, I wrote very cheerfully that Erica Meiland was in love. Moreover, even better: it was mutual. Yes, Erica was completely over the moon with Sander, who — in case there is still any confusion — is a private detective, which he also took as his Instagram name just to be sure.

And everyone was allowed to know: ‘Today just enjoy my freedom in reasonable anonymity’ Sander wrote on his Instagram when the news of their relationship came out. And he told Story that they had even been together for half a year. The fans were also happy, because he would also be seen in the series of the Meilandjes. Well, it can't go wrong, right?

Yes, it can, because the love is over. And it turns out that there was actually no love at all. What is going wrong here? Which half-year relationship was private detective Sander talking about?! Confusion all around, because Erica now says that there was never any talk of a romantic relationship.

When the news of their relationship came out, they had just started getting to know each other. ‘That means exchanging information via email and app and having a walking appointment every few weeks,’ Erica says about it now. Now I find that sound very businesslike and when I go on a date with someone, ‘exchanging information via email’ is not one of the most romantic things I can think of, but okay. There was absolutely no talk of ‘we had already been in a relationship for half a year’.

Regarding a potential relationship, Erica says: ‘We differ too much from each other for that. We consider each other friends and still have occasional contact.’

Of course, fans are also a little bit confused, and that is understandable. However, many are also clear about it: this was pure PR. A love for Erica on the side, letting him appear in the TV series, him getting some exposure: everyone happy. It doesn't help that their interactions on TV seemed rather, eh... staged?

Now it is quite normal in America among Hollywood stars to start a fake relationship with someone purely for fame, but are people in our down-to-earth Holland already doing that too? Oh, you know: I find it sound juicy. Just to be sure, I put private detective Sander here, because I want to know all the ins and outs of this and I bet he can give me those.
