Netflix Tip of the Day: Chestnut Men

Netflix Tip of the Day: Chestnut Men

Ready for a new, addictive series that is also thrilling? Ever since I watched Squid Game, I've been completely into grim series, so this discovery came just in time for me. And, always a plus, this is a Scandinavian series — Danish to be precise — and if you're a bit familiar with that, you know how incredibly good they always are. This one too? Oh yes, this one too.

It's called Kastanjemanden and it's been on Netflix for about two weeks now. A bit of bad timing, as it was completely overshadowed by Squid Game. But hopefully, this one will be discovered a bit more, because otherwise, you're really missing out.

Okay, the story: several murders are committed that initially don't seem to have much in common, except that a little figure made of chestnuts is found with each body. These figures all contain fingerprints of a twelve-year-old girl. To be more precise: the twelve-year-old daughter of the Minister of Social Affairs. The big question: is she still alive and who is behind these murders?

It's up to two detectives to solve this mysterious case. If this whole story sounds familiar to you, that might be right: it's an adaptation of the book of the same name by Søren Sveistrup, which was released in 2018. I read that book and I can really recommend it to you. Just like his book October: also brilliantly done.

Well, check out the trailer yourself, because it already gave me goosebumps. And, it's from the same creators as The Killing, in case you're not convinced yet.
