Oh, slowly our little palace is becoming a home. The moving truck has been, all the walls are wallpapered and painted, and all the sanitary is being installed. It's so cool to see everything we have envisioned, from samples and photos, now coming together in real life. One of the highlights that came to life is our Akupanel wall. You have them in many shapes and sizes, and ours is made by Van de Bunt Interieur. Jon has built a lot himself – with flair – but I'm glad we left this piece of craftsmanship to them.
‘WHEN CAN YOU GUYS?!’ My phone kept making noise: the terraces are opening again. A wave of happiness washed over me. I almost forgot what it was like to go out to eat or enjoy a drink with friends. No, but seriously: I really can't wait for all the hospitality to finally get back to work. Your first hospitality visit? I would love to hear them, so I can make a new wishlist.
Oh man, I haven't been so captivated by a series in ages. The Handmaid’s Tale is extremely thrilling, brilliantly acted, and you get completely sucked into the utterly ridiculous, apocalyptic world that is being created. I remember someone once told me the plot when I was pregnant and I thought: this will be a series for after the pregnancy. I've barely had time to brush my teeth lately, but I'm already at the end of season 2. Bring on season 4, I'm ready for it. Praise be.
When renovating, making choices is the hardest part. What do you cut from the budget and what are the real components that should not be skimped on? In our case, that was a good lighting plan. In our previous house, we had a few spotlights here and there, but now I see what a real lighting plan can do for the atmosphere in your home. Lichtpartner made our plan, and all the spots together cost a few bucks, but the result is really beyond my expectations. Thanks to the home automation (‘smart’) system from Gira, we can literally pre-program scenes. So a romantic evening for two, friends night, or drinks can be activated with the push of a button.
