Oh oh The Hague, how nice you are

Don't let Lil hear about her little town, but The Hague is one of those destinations that I sometimes forget. No idea why, because every time I'm there I want to live there. Again this time. Why is The Hague fun?
Shopping
As you walk up Noordeinde, you are met with shop after shop after shop. It goes from mouth-wateringly beautiful (Pauw) to my favorite (Arket) to browsing with a coffee in hand at Bookstor. Did I forget the Bijenkorf? They have that too, of course. In The Hague, you have every nice shop imaginable within walking distance. I like.
The international feel
As soon as you step out in The Hague, it feels a bit like abroad. The connections to the rest of the world are shorter here. You can see it in the people, you notice it in the shops, and you hear it in the language. The Hague has international grandeur and that just makes it a bit more rock and roll.
Eating and drinking
Did I mention that you have shop after shop after shop? On Noordeinde, you stroll from the wine bar to the Italian where the tablecloths are still starched. Everyone knows everyone in the street, so it makes sense that you end up at the local café with music where the locals also join in. It might start with a coffee at the bookstore, but it definitely ends at Vincenzo’s Osteria for a tasty slice of pizza or at Stocks & Bonds for cocktails.
Sleeping
I laid my head on a heavenly pillow at the corner of where it all happens, from the hotel room I looked straight up Noordeinde. Let's be honest, if the location is good enough for Wim-Lex and Max, then it's certainly good enough for us. From the Hilton Hotel, you can stumble right into the city with its delightful shops, restaurants, and buzz. A tip from me to you.
And coming back
You might forget the city for a moment, but as soon as you rediscover it, it feels like you have a new address again. Every time you return to The Hague, you can't believe the city slipped away from you for a moment. I understand Lil and her favorite city.
