Look, during those somewhat stressful and dark weeks before Christmas, you just have to be a little extra kind to yourself. Taking a break and letting things be is not such a bad idea. Cliché but true: ‘Those who are kind to their own life have so much more to give to others.’ So last weekend, I left with my best friend towards Amsterdam where I stayed for a night in the luxurious Aparthotel, YAYS Docklands. I can tell you: you will definitely recharge here, and for the following reasons:

• For those who are new to the term ‘Aparthotel’: these are apartments that are fully equipped with hotel service. Do I need to say more?
• YAYS Docklands is located in the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam, which is very easy to drive to. So no canal chaos where you have to look over your shoulder (0)20 times. And parking is free in the spacious garage under the hotel.
• For those who, like me, value a good interior, this is a paradise, because: sleek design, HK Living in abundance, a wonderful rain shower, and a bed that is unbelievably comfortable.
• Something I normally don't value at all, but now that there's not much to do after 8:00 PM, I do: the hotel room TV. You can easily stream Disney+ and Videoland from your mobile to the TV via the wifi.
• And such a movie night, or just recharging, obviously doesn't go without your favorite snacks. Fortunately, this is easily arranged with the Gorilla's app or the wide range on your favorite delivery apps. This way, you don't have to go anywhere and can stay in your chill mode.
• When checking in, you receive a handy city guide where you can see in a very clear design what there is to do in the area and where you can find the best breakfast spots.
• Is Amsterdam not really your place? No worries: you can also find YAYS in The Hague, Paris, and Antwerp.

So, that weekend of recharging: is it noted down?
