At this time, two things start to fight for my attention: Michael Bublé's Christmas songs and all the movies with Julia Roberts. From one comes the other on Google-rich evenings, and that's how I discovered Hazel Patricia Moder, also the daughter of Julia Roberts, and what a sweetie she is.
Come on, that red carpet
She made her public debut this year. Julia (I can call her Julia) wanted her to grow up away from the spotlight, but now at sixteen, she could feel the plush of the red carpet under her Mary Jane shoes next to her father.
The modest outfit
If you are going to have your public ‘coming-out’, you do it as a daughter of course during the Cannes Film Festival. Modest as she is, she wore a cream-colored knotted dress, black Mary Jane shoes, and her hair was in a simple ponytail. I found her a bit of a blend between her mother and Reese Witherspoon.
This is why you could almost hate her
Hazel (beautiful name by the way) has two brothers, (Phinnaeus and Henry), making her the only heir to all of mom Julia's pièces de résistance. She apparently has a whole room full of goodies waiting for Hazel. Like that amazing dress Julia wore when she received the Oscar for her role in Erin Brockovich. As Julia Roberts herself says: ‘Of those things I think: I won't do anything with it, but it's too beautiful and too special to throw away; that's what a Hazel room is for with all the heirlooms.’
Not following her parents around
You would think that with a filmmaker as a father and an actress as a mother, the cameras would beckon you too, but Hazel seems to prefer feeling the grass rather than plush between her toes. She is an athlete, plays soccer, swims, and bikes whenever she can.
Of course, she has had a film debut
That was in the comedy Mother's Day by mom Julia.
Oh Hazel, even if you don't choose the cameras, I hope you will occasionally grab a red carpet from now on. You are the best arm candy any Hollywood parent could wish for, as far as I'm concerned.
