The Fashion Weeks are in full bloom

New York is checked off and London Fashion Week is already behind us. Milan is the next stop where models, fashion journalists, photographers, and Insta-heroes set up camp. An overview so far so you know what to expect fashion-wise.

1. Lots of waist but also body consciousness
The last 18 months of processing and celebrating the new now was clearly visible in the collections. The cut-out trend has shifted a bit and made way for even more focus on the waist, like skirts that start at your hip bone with a crop top above. You might think: damn, I still can't get to that cheese fondue infusion, but at the same time we live in the era of body consciousness where everyone is allowed to be themselves in their own way.

2. Color, color, color
We saw it last year. In the heart of the corona crisis, designers saw it as their task to breathe optimism and zest for life. Color, in short. Neon, bright, all variations are conceivable.

3. Volume
From petticoat skirts à la Carrie Bradshaw to pompous sheet creations; as Simone Rocha said: “It should look like you rolled out of bed and dragged your entire sheet with you.”

4. Fluidity and escapism
We don't want to be trapped. Not constrained by a virus and certainly not by our clothing. It needs to move, which is why many shows in London were performed by dancers, symbolizing our urge for escapism.

5. Crazy materials
Tulle, rubber, name it and there was an outfit made of it. Be prepared, be very prepared.
