The great drama of the Gucci family

house of Gucci

There are anyway 17 reasons to drool over this movie (Lady Gaga, Al Pacino, Gucci, Gucci, Gucci, Gucci), but the drama surrounding the film already provides delicious free publicity. The Gucci family, normally not so generous with comments, has been restless about this for weeks. Firstly, Al Pacino is said to be too fat, too short, and too ugly to play Maurizio Gucci. ‘My grandfather was blonde, tall, and handsome. Like all the men in our family,’ Patrizia Gucci, granddaughter of Maurizio Gucci, states.

The story in short, so you understand that Ridley Scott would have loved to make a film out of this. The film is based on a book: The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. It focuses on the period when Maurizio Gucci is in charge of the fashion house. He is married to Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), but flaunts money in a way that Lil Kleine could still learn from and keeps some piccole Patriziaatjes on the side. Patrizia can see this to some extent through his gold-laden fingers, until he has to sell his share of the stocks to compensate for his expenses a bit. Then it's schluss, as far as Patrizia is concerned. She assembles a team and hires a hitman to catapult her once-beloved Maurizio to heaven. He is murdered right on the doorstep of his office at Via Palestro 20 in Milan.

Patrizia ultimately receives 18 years in prison, is now free, and is highly indignant about the fact that Lady Gaga did not take the courtesy to inform her that she would be playing her role.

Dear Mrs. Patrizia Reggiani, I do not believe you are the person with the greatest right to point out to others whether something is civilized or not. And besides: what is not, may still come.

Gucci does provide the clothing for the film.

There is no such thing as bad publicity, after all.

Or as Oscar Wilde said: ‘There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.’

I am counting the nights until October. And here you have the trailer.

More about Lady Gaga?

Why I understood that A Star is Born did not win an Oscar.
Why the horseback riding elements at Gucci are actually total marketing.
