The more chaotic your life, the smarter you actually are

chaotic life
Some people get restless if a dishcloth is placed incorrectly on the countertop, others don't even notice piles of mess. It says more about your personality than you think.

Because smart people would actually make more mess at home.

Too smart
In fact: the more chaotic you are, the smarter you are. Multiple studies prove this: Research from the University of Minnesota shows that chaos promotes creative thinking and new ideas. Moreover, it's better for your creativity if you place a little among the clutter on your laptop. And especially don't sit down to write neatly, because even messy writing is a characteristic of intelligence. If you don't feel like writing carefully or cleaning up, it could mean that your brain is busy with other (more important) things.

According to psychologists, the outcome is logically explainable. Messy people have a high IQ and are therefore often busier with their careers. They have less time to deal with household chores. Your mind, as a smart person, is filled with the smart matters of life and less with those yellow dishcloths that you need to rinse off. Cleaning up is a waste of time, and smart people care a little less about what others think of them. They just go their own way and it doesn't bother them much if they have a house or desk full of clutter.

Smart, smarter, smartest

More signs of very smart people?

  • They go to bed later
  • They swear more (because they probably just have a larger vocabulary)
  • They often take cold showers
  • They find it annoying when they hear people chewing on food or smacking
  • They like to draw while working
  • They drink more wine
  • They daydream
  • They talk to themselves

All in all, nothing to be ashamed of, that mess in your hallway. Or that you can barely see your floor in your bedroom. You are creative and intelligent: bring on that scattered clothing. And otherwise, just sit down and talk to yourself, or take a cold shower. Ha. You smart stuff.
