The tip for beautiful blonde locks this summer

blonde locks

Blondina’s, blondies, blondana’s, chica’s Let op. The sun is back in sight and here and there a vacation has surely been booked, but promise me that you will leave the lemon juice at home? Lemon is a natural product without fuss and therefore perfectly suitable for your hair, you would think. Unfortunately, there is a small ‘but’ to it. It is actually not that good for your hair and your sensitive scalp doesn't enjoy it either.

I did it for years, every vacation a fresh lemon or a bottle of lemon juice went through my blonde locks to lighten it even more. Whether I am punished for that (because of extremely dry locks) like your skin does – think of pigmentation spots from sun damage – that doesn't seem to be the case, but better safe than sorry, right?

If you still want to lighten those blonde summer locks, do it safely. Lemon juice definitely makes your hair lighter, but the acid can also burn your hair, make it extremely dry, and irritate your scalp. You better use a milder variant like chamomile tea or water with salt, especially if your hair is bleached this works better. Make a mask out of it, let it sit for a while, and then rinse it out. Take care of it afterwards with apple cider vinegar, which is also good for the pH value of your scalp and helps to close the hair cuticles. Sun or not, this is definitely a great tip because apple cider vinegar also ensures that soap, lime, and other hair product residues are finally really rinsed away. Moreover, your hair will shine incredibly. A small downside is the smell... Apple cider vinegar does smell a bit, but everything for those beautiful healthy locks, right?

If you want to do it right this summer, go for a treatment at the hairdresser and choose babylights or a natural balayage. Protect your hair (just like your skin) well with UV protection or wear a nice hat, then you are a hundred percent sure that you won't get any weird lemon stains or an itchy scalp. That would be a shame during a vacation, right?
