People say: ‘This is the worst advice I've ever received’

Yaaa good afternoon, here is the most enthusiastic Reddit addict again, who has been rummaging through AskReddit and came across a question that I have — to be honest — already addressed. But then a little differently. It was also about advice, with the subtle difference: those were the most frequently mentioned pieces of advice that you should better ignore. These are pieces of advice that people have received personally, which they completely disagreed with, but that in some cases came too late. And I must say: I saw (unfortunately) many recognitions, like the one about bullying: who ever thought that ‘just ignore it’ was a good way to solve it? I am firmly convinced that teachers say that so they don't have to do much about it themselves. Well, I have listed the most striking ones for you. Curious if you also disagree with this advice, by the way.
1. ‘Never ask for a raise. Your supervisor will have to see when you work hard enough and will pay you more when the time is right.’ Uh... No. That's not how it works.’
2. ‘Don't get sterilized, because what if one of your children dies?’ What. The. Fuck.’
3. ‘A friend when I thought I was pregnant: ‘Just down a bottle of vodka and punch yourself in the stomach.’’
4. ‘Don't study computer science. Everyone will do that, the market will become saturated and you will really have a hard time finding a job.’ My parents said this around 2010...’
5. ‘That's two: sleep when your baby sleeps, followed by: why is your house so dirty?’
6. ‘From here on it only gets worse. These are the best days of your life!‘ said my high school teacher to me, a depressed and suicidal teenager.’
7. ‘Have you tried just forgetting it?‘ Unfortunately, ’just forgetting‘ is not the remedy for PTSD.’
8. ‘Respect all elders.’ Don't ask me to respect you if they don't do it either.’
9. ‘Don't be depressed, because you have nothing to be depressed about.‘ Yeah, that's not how it works.’
10. ‘Work hard and be loyal to your company and they will take good care of you.’ Hmm, not really the case often.’
11. ‘If you're being bullied, respond by being nice.‘ Uh, no. If you're being bullied, you give them a black eye for their attempt.’
12. ‘Just get over it.‘ Oh yeah, thanks. I hadn't tried that yet.’
13. ‘It doesn't matter what you graduate in, as long as you graduate.’
14. ‘Good things come to those who wait.‘ Sounds nice. Makes no sense.’
15. ‘That it's okay if a boy bullies you as a girl, because that means he likes you. So many people told me that when I was younger that I don't find it surprising why I put up with so much bullshit and have little self-confidence.’
16. ‘Everyone deserves a second chance.‘ Nope, nope, nope.’
17. ‘That you should just ignore your bullies. That they will get bored and leave you alone.‘ No, they will see it as a challenge and it will only get worse.’
