These 10 series have genuinely fun songs as an intro

If I like a song, I immediately become obsessed with it for a while. I play it to death (a bit of a dated saying by now, better said: my Spotify is glowing red? Hmm) until I’ve had enough. Esplanade makes that song make a comeback for me and sometimes that overkill is permanent. A song can only achieve that with me if I have a certain feeling about it or it evokes a memory. And that’s how it comes that I often have opening songs from series on infinite repeat. Fun series + fun opening tune = an instant hit for me. Especially the one below. Seriously, I’m really glad I know these songs thanks to the series.
1. Friends: The Rembrandts — I’ll Be There For You
YAAAAS, how could I not start with this song? It’s just a delightful song. Too bad for The Rembrandts that this has also been their only hit ever, but it’s a big one. In the car: singing along, in the bubbles: singing along, in the shower: singing along. It just remains a classic.
2. Suits: Ima Robot — Greenback Boogie
Everybody wanna know, how it feel, everybody wanna see, what it’s like… Blablablaaaa alriiiiight, the greenback booooogie. No idea what they’re actually singing further, but this song just fits. With the series, with the way the opening scenes are put together: love it. Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) thinks so too, by the way, just check out this video.
3. Pretty Little Liars: The Pierces — Secret
This is actually the only one on this list that I already knew before the series, because it had already appeared in an episode of Gossip Girl. I had already looked it up right away, so the fact that it was used in PLL was a welcome surprise. I totally understand the choice (Ashley Benson too: she recommended this song). Nice and grim, and those Liars had quite a few secrets (and secret twins too, by the way).
4. iCarly: Miranda Cosgrove – Leave it all to me
Maybe I don’t quite belong to the target audience of this series (but I still watch it), but this song has been in my favorites for ages. It contains lyrics that don’t really make sense, but it always makes me happy and it’s such a catchy sing-along. All together now: sooooo wake up the members of our natioooon.
5. Orange Is The New Black: Regina Spektor – You’ve Got Time
This song fits so well with this series that I would believe it was written specifically for it. And it’s not in my favorites, because I only like the part that’s in the intro. HAHA. But honestly, this intro (with the visuals) is just so cool?
6. Frasier: Kelsey Grammer – Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs
A bit of cheating here, because this is the outro and not the intro. The lyrics make no sense, but it’s just so nice. Kelsey Grammer really has a wonderful voice to listen to, so even if he read the phone book to me, I would still listen attentively. Never seen this series? DO IT. Honestly my favorite comedy series. The funniest ever.
7. The Office
This song has been my ringtone for years and I’m always happy when I get a call. Even though there’s no singing, it’s still so catchy. And when I feel like The Office is starting again, I immediately get happy. Speaking of: time for another rewatch session.
8. The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Will Smith – The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
This song was played so often during my student days. In the pub, in the clubs, no idea why this was such a hit back then (and whether it still is, I’m a grandma now), but I still have great memories of it. And that while I’ve maybe seen a total of eight episodes of the series.
9. Cheers: Gary Portnoy – Where everybody knows your name
An older series that always cheers me up, and this song makes me so nostalgic. When I hear this, I want to stand around a piano in a brown pub with way too much beer, and then sing this song together. Delightful.
10. Full House: Jesse Frederick – Everywhere you look
Pure nostalgia at its best. I used to always watch Full House and was just like everyone else who watched it in love with John Stamos aka Uncle Jesse. I really can’t watch that series again (why did I ever like it?), but John Stamos still remains exceptionally handsome and this song is still great.
