These are the new elements in MAFS season 8

Calm down, calm down: I won't spoil anything about the brand new season. I can recommend you to just go watch it, because it's enjoyable again with a capital G. It is a bit of an adjustment that this is the first season that I can't just watch at my own pace (because: waiting for new episodes), but it's also fun that you really don't know what will happen, which couples will break up and which couples will stay together. Because yes, I was actually always googling in advance how it all worked.

But okay, no spoilers then. I did want to talk about what is different this season. Because they have added a lot of new elements, some more fun and successful than others, but it is definitely refreshing. And there will surely be even more new things coming – we are only halfway through – but there is already a lot different now.

For example, the ‘intimacy week’, in which the couples have to perform tasks given to them by new expert Allessandra Rampolla (she is definitely a nice new addition). For example, standing opposite each other for three minutes and... Laughing. Miiii gado, how awkward is that? Really not normal, but it's hilarious that the couples just do it.

But also kissing each other for ten minutes as if you are madly in love. And just kissing, that's what it's all about, that people nowadays don't really take the time for that anymore. You can imagine that not all couples are jumping for joy about this.

Buuut there is MORE. This year the couples also go to the cinema just the two of them. But instead of a movie being played, they both see their parents on the screens. Oh yes, a threeway call. They then discuss how everyone is experiencing things at home so far and what they think of what they have seen on TV so far — and also what their opinion is about the person they are matched with. You can imagine that this doesn't always go smoothly...

And last but very not least: this year the couples are also allowed to write a feedback letter to another couple and they can also come up with a task that one half of that couple has to perform, the person they think needs to pull a little harder or that is really not doing well in his/her marriage. Those letters are not well received by a few, but it is enjoyable. Especially because it confronts people faster with their actions, normally that only happened at the dinner parties. That still happens by the way, because those are explosively traditional.

So I really find these developments exciting. It's impressive if you wait until the whole season is finished or until the whole season is on Videoland, but no worries: something very nice is waiting for you.
