This is how your hair looks good after a long flight

The gate to the wide world is not fully open yet, but the crack is in sight. I'm starting to wedge my foot between the door to choke on parties, dinners, and trips later. Because we are really getting back among people, the sweatpants come off and the hair goes in curls. I spoke this week with Antonio Corral Calero, head of hair at Moroccanoil, and he gave me the best tips.
Antonio, normally you hop from Barcelona to New York and back via Paris. Now you were tied to one place for a year. How was that?
‘Weird, strange, but also nice. I was really working physically again. Trying all our products, testing hairstyles, seeing what works and what can be improved. Our philosophy is that your hair should look good, but we want our products to never be harmful to your hair. Our care products are of course extremely nourishing, but with hairspray, it is impossible to create a nourishing product. Ours is developed in such a way that it is at least not harmful.’
Then go ahead with your favorites.
‘Do you have a moment? It obviously depends on your hair, and that’s why we mainly sell at salons so they can give expert and suitable advice. I also think it’s important to know what you’re going to do. For example, if you’re traveling to New York, the water there contains a lot of lime, and it’s important to use a product that protects your hair well against that. I would recommend you not to use too heavy products because you have a lot of hair, and then it will hang down. But the Volumizing Mist is definitely one of my favorites.’
You just mentioned that you watched the interview with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk with our queen and were so impressed by her. If you could do her hair and could only use one product, which product would you choose?
‘The Root Boost, for sure. She has beautiful hair, but it is a bit flat on her head. I would create a little more upward volume with the Root Boost, giving it a bit more body.’
Then a little bonus question: I'm going to Barcelona with my daughter. Where should I definitely go?
‘Ah, Barcelona, my city. I now live in Mallorca because I really need some peace, but Barcelona is amazing. I would take her to the high mountain Montjuïc and take the cable car there so you have an overview of the city. And of course, eat paella. I'm jealous.’
Ah, okay, another bonus question: how do you elegantly get off the plane, because soon we can fly again.
‘A satin pillow. I always have the urge to give everyone on the plane a hairdo because everyone has such a messy crown after a flight. Bring a satin pillow, some dry shampoo, and a brush, and you’ll walk off the plane looking fabulous.’
