This is what you needed in your life

One of my favorite sentences in the world is: if you didn't already exist, I would have invented you. It's on the birth announcement of our oldest daughter. But there are also things so delightful that I couldn't have invented them, simply because I couldn't have thought of them.

You should know that I am quite fond of ironing. Bed linen, shirts, even my beloved's boxers get a few warm strokes because they fold just a bit nicer and lie just a bit straighter in the closet.

Vacation is a bit of a crime in that regard (I'm having a great time otherwise, though), because irons abroad... Not exactly my friends. Before you know it, that white jeans is full of orange rust stains that bite into it like an unwanted souvenir.

But those summer dresses and shirts do need a de-wrinkler after a flight to Southern Italy or a drive to Southern France.
