This new true crime addition is one you want to see on Netflix

Believe me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey

Yesss, true crime is ON and everyone knows it. Now Netflix can hardly keep making new series and movies in this genre at a fast pace (other series need to be made as well, for example), so what do you do? Exactly: you dive into the archive and just take older series and movies that fall into that category. I present to you: The Abduction of Tina McVey.

It is based on a true story, but it is not a documentary. With a 7.1 on Netflix, it certainly seemed worth it to me, and I can tell you that it is indeed a recommendation and quite thrilling as well. The story is about Tina McVey, a seventeen-year-old girl, who plans to commit suicide. But just that evening, she is kidnapped.

She eventually manages to convince her kidnapper that he must let her go, after which she can return home. In total, she was held for about 26 hours. When she is back, no one believes her story, except for one detective, who suspects that the perpetrator is a serial killer whose modus operandi matches what happened to her.

The real story is not very different from the movie, so you can imagine how grim that was and what an enormous hell this girl went through. What is really bizarre is that the real Tina McVey was able to figure out where her kidnapper was located. She calculated this by remembering what time he had roughly pinned. This happened in the 80s, so ATMs were quite scarce. Additionally, she remembered what music was playing in the background on the TV, so they could later pinpoint the times even more accurately.

This ultimately proved crucial in capturing the perpetrator: Bobby Joe Long. He ultimately received a 99-year prison sentence; the chance is really negligible that he will ever see life outside the bars again.

True crime fans, this is another one you don't want to miss. And yes, it is already on Netflix now. Binge it!.
